Cloud Vision Code Lab at Next KL
So today I conducted a code lab on Cloud Vision at Google Malaysia for Next KL, held by the Google Developer Group KL (GDG KL). It's been an extremely hectic weekend as I had a Women Techmakers talk yesterday and a bachelorette party last night. I was also really nervous because there weren't separate tracks, it was just me and all the attendees. Fortunately the code lab went well!
You can find the slides #here. It contains a basic introduction to Cloud Vision and examples of how to make requests and responses. The code is basically a basic Google Sample which I modified to cater for Text Detection as well as Label Detection (codelab link #here). The original Google Sample link which I modified can be found #here, but it just does Label Detection.
I think those that came with the pre-requisites all achieved the end result which was really rewarding for me! I decided to use a shortcut and just gave them all one of my API keys which I will delete later, which really shortened the process as people didn't have to bother with quite a few steps. All of the compiling errors I saw were related to them copying the API keys down wrongly so all problems were fixed very easily!
I used the Question and Answer feature on Google Slides but completely forgot to look at the responses! However, to the person who asked me "How was the food?" it was great, the chicken was great!
