Tango Talk At Women Techmakers Kuala Lumpur 2017
Today, I did a talk on "Augmented Reality: Exploring The World With Tango". I spent quite a while preparing for this talk because I wanted to create some custom sample demos as the technology is still so new and experimental. I wanted people to really gain an understanding of the experience as it is much cooler than just hearing me talk.
You can find the slides #here. I wanted to run a screen capture of my screen the entire time while I was speaking but unfortunately my hands were full so I forgot! So below are some bits and bobs of what I demoed (WIP don't have time to upload vids atm) but taken elsewhere (only the green screen demo I managed to capture while I was speaking).
The talk started with Marker Based Augmented Reality. It .hen moved to Augmented Reality and Tango along with demos for Motion Tracking, Depth Sensing, Point Clouds. (No area learning demos as it would have taken time to setup an Area Definition File whist I was presenting).
Anyway, the talk was extremely well received and a lot of people asked me about how to start developing for Tango. [Unfortunately, you do need a Tango compliant device to start developing for Tango as Tango has a lot of custom hardware. Which meant I could only do a talk on this subject and not a code lab as the devices are hard to get hold of].
