Firebase AppFest Hackathon
Today I attended the BEST HACKATHON ever! The BEST part was it was only 6 hours!
The Firebase AppFest Hackathon was a one day conference which brought the Firebase team from Mountain View To Kuala Lumpur!
I was part of team #FIREBAES. It was quite an interesting experience for me as I didn't touch Android at all for this hackathon, I just worked on the cloud functions for the backend. My really talented team mates built our prototype on web, Android and iOS. I also learnt alot getting feedback and advice from the Firebase team and the other mentors!
We built a GDG event app that helped organisers with organising events. It allowed new events to be added with photos. Cloud functions in the backend blurs out sexual/violent images that are uploaded as well as translates the event descriptions between English and Bahasa Melayu for Malay speakers.
We won second place which was USD3500 worth of cloud credits as well as a Google Wifi each! Unfortunately they only brought one WiFi for us to pose with, but we were assured the other Google WiFi units would come in the mail! Not bad for 6 hours of work!
